I purchased a 350MHz G4 Machcarrier/ZIF from Daystar in April 2003.  I like to move it to a B&W G3.  I assume that I can remove the ZIF from the Machcarrier card and install it in the B&W.  What software is needed to make this work on the B&W?  I'll be running OS 10.3 and 9.  I plan on using the machine mostly for scanning.

Hello,
You can actually run the MAChSpeed ZIF (from the MAChCarrier card) on the B&W without any software. But if you like you can purchase and install MAChSpeed Control for testing and cache management.
See: http://daystar-store.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=37

That said, you will need to first (in OS9) upate your Apple firmware to the 1.1 version (the latest). This will actually disable the ability for your Blue & White to run a G4 (you'll get 4 tones).

Download and run the XLR8 firmware updater via the support page at:
http://daystartechnology.com/Daystar_Technology_Mac_Support/Mac_Product_Support/Mac_CPU_Upgrade_ZIF_G3_G4.html

Follow the instructions exactly. This is the one area that most people have trouble with. In every problem case, the user simply did not press and hold the programmer's button while hitting the power button, until hearing the tone, then letting go.
